It is one account, made ready to call. Every fact carries a source and a date, every sentence you may say is written down, and every sentence you may not is written next to it. Nine sections, always the same order.

01

The nine sections

§What it holdsWhen you read it
0Holds. Anything that must happen before the first touchBefore anything
1The forcing function. Why this account, why this weekFirst, and again before every call
2Account rules. What would blow the account upOnce. They are absolute
3Snapshot. Every fact with its source and dateSkim. Return when challenged on a number
4The committee. Who, why that seat, contact detailBefore you pick up the phone
5Cadence, or the call trackThe night before you start
6Per-seat angles. One idea eachImmediately before each call
7What can be said and what cannotOnce. Then live by it
8Coordination. Who does what, who names whomBefore touching an account someone else is in
9What happens nextHand back to Dallas
02

Using it

  • Read §1 out loud before every call. Not skim, out loud.
  • Take one sentence into the call, not the document. Each room has a single sentence the account rests on. If you cannot say it out loud before dialling, you are not ready.
  • §6 is the only part you open right before the call. One angle, one question, then close it.
  • Never read from it on the phone. A read line sounds read.
  • If a fact is not in §3 or §7, it does not leave your mouth. Not "I think", not "I've heard".
03

The three rules

Open on their world. First sentence is about them, dated and specific. A line their own executive said in public is an opener. What we sell is not.

Proud, not wound. Never open on their bad number, layoff or outage. Open on what they are proud of, then ask about the hard part. People defend a weakness and explain a strength.

Ask, then stop talking. Every touch ends on one question, then silence. Count to four. They will fill it.

04

Banned

  • Apologising. No "sorry to bother you", no "I'll be quick", no "is now a bad time".
  • Talking through a pause.
  • Chasing the meeting on call one. You are checking whether your one sentence is true for this person.
  • Admitting you don't know the org. The map is built. Say what you know.
  • A call with no voicemail. Every call, a different one.
  • Exit talk anywhere except the single breakup at the very end.
05

What a good first call is

Not a yes. You asked what gives first on a heavy day, they told you, and you wrote it down word for word. Post that sentence the same day. A meeting is one account. A real sentence from a real operator is every account.

06

The three lanes

Every number sits in one, and the lane decides what you may do with it.

LaneWhat it coversRule
1Our outcomes and our customers' resultsValue Repository figures only. Names only where marketing or the rep who owns the account has cleared them. Everything else blinded
2Public facts about the prospectNo approval. Needs a primary source, a date, and a re-check before it sends
3Our own estimatesOne to one only, labelled an estimate, never a headline

Fits none of the three, it ships marked unverified or not at all.

07

The pattern

Their number, a line mined from their own leadership, then what we have done. In that order, every time.

  • Their number. Whatever is publicly true and specific about their operation.
  • The mined line. Something their own executive said in public that you can quote back.
  • What we have done. The cleared or blinded proof. Third beat, never the first.

An account with no rating reads the same as one with a rating.

08

Your first week

  1. Read the room end to end once, including §7.
  2. Say the one sentence out loud until it sounds like you.
  3. Call the biggest floor first.
  4. Write down the answer to "what gives first" word for word.
  5. Post it in the group DM.
  6. Call the next one.

A strike room is one account, made ready to call.

Nine sections, always the same orderSep 22 2026
The shape

Nothing in it is theory. Every fact has a source and a date, and every sentence you may say is written down.

Work one and you have worked all of them.

What each section is for

Read them in this order.

0 · HoldsAnything that has to happen before the first touch.
1 · The forcing functionWhy this account, why this week, in a paragraph.
2 · Account rulesThe things that would blow the account up. Absolute.
3 · SnapshotEvery fact with its source and its date.
4 to 6 · Who and howThe committee, the cadence, one angle per seat.
7 to 9 · Limits and nextWhat can be said, who does what, what happens next.
How to actually use it

Take one sentence into the call, not the document.

The three rules that carry everything

Open on their world. Proud, not wound. Ask, then stop talking.

What each one means

The third is the hardest and it is most of the skill.

Open on their worldThe first sentence is about them, dated and specific. A line their own executive said in public is an opener. What we sell is not.
Proud, not woundNever open on their bad number. Open on what they are proud of, then ask about the hard part. People defend a weakness and explain a strength.
Ask, then stopEvery touch ends on one question and then silence. The pause is the ask. Count to four. They will fill it.
The things that will feel wrong and are right

Most of these are ways of apologising for existing.

What a good first call is

Not a yes. A sentence you wrote down word for word.

A meeting is one account. A real sentence from a real operator is every account. Post it the same day.

Where the numbers come from

Every number sits in one of three lanes, and the lane decides what you may do with it.

Lane 1 · our outcomesValue Repository figures only. Names only where marketing or the rep who owns the account has cleared them. Everything else blinded.
Lane 2 · public factsCMS data, rulings, filings, a CEO's letter. No approval. Needs a primary source, a date, and a re-check before it sends.
Lane 3 · our estimatesAnything we modelled. One to one only, labelled an estimate, never a headline.

Fits none of the three, it is marked unverified and it does not ship.

The pattern, applied anywhere

Their number, a line from their own leadership, then what we have done.

That is why an account with no rating reads the same as one with a rating.

Your first week

Say the one sentence out loud until it sounds like you.

Then call the biggest floor first, write down what gives on a heavy day, and call the next one.
